January 2007 Nine species of plant were in flower on 1st January i.e. Marsh Marigold, Groundsel, Oxford Ragwort, Common Daisy, Dandelion, Hazel, Downy Birch, Alder and Musk Mallow. Also in flower the first week were Silver Birch, Lesser Spearwort, Common Chickweed, Petty Spurge and Hairy Bitter-cress, 3 grasses were noted with fully formed flowers - Annual Meadow-grass, Wall Barley and Cock's-foot Grass bringing the list up to 17.
