Notes on a ringed Coot found at Shibdon - This bird was ringed by Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust as age 1st year, sex Male on 23-Oct-2008 at North Duffield, Selby, North YorkshireOS Map reference SE6937
Timber Beach- No sign of Knot at lunchtime, Common Seal on the mud.

Timber Beach- 2 Knot (yesterday's Shibdon bird and another), 300+ Golden Plover, 150 Lapwing, 3 Curlew, 4 Redshank & Great Black-backed Gull
Burdon Moor- 1 Red Kite, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, 5 Golden Plover, 20+ Linnet & 1 Swallow.Also 1 Red Admiral.

Ravensworth Fell - An Eagle sp. flew over was thought by the observer to be a Golden or Imperial. Has something escaped from Beamish? The observer said at the weekend he would always be carrying his video camera when out birding from now on. Unfortunately he forgot it.!

Lesser Whitethroat at Clara Vale Young birds like this, unlikethe adults often show a near full eyering. As the dark grey mask is poorly defined, this bird resembles a Common Whitethroat a little bit, but note the dark legs, almost pure white underparts and lack of any rufous in the wings [Michael Eccles] |
