Lamesley Water Meadows - Snipe 11, Lapwings 13, Black Headed Gull 30+, Mute Swan 4, Shelduck 3, Moorhen 20+, Wren 2, Woodpigeon 4, Redshank 3, Tufted Duck 2, Teal 20+, Long Tailed Tit 6, Carrion Crow 2, Redwing 2, Mistle Thrush 1,  Great Spotted Woodpecker (flew over), Great Tit 2, Cormorant 1, Herringf Gull 3, Kingfisher (flew over) Coot 10+.

Shibdon Pond - Report of a Great Crested Grebe on the pond today. Shelduck and Goldeneye on the pond.
Lamesley Water Meadows - 2 Kingfisher and a Common Buzzard
Thornley WC - 4 Willow Tit at the feeding station as well as the usual Blur/Gret/Coal and Long-tiled Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreepe, Bullfinch, Jay and the almost ever-present Sparrowhawk..

Birtley Brickworks Pool - 1 Little Grebe, 2 Canada Geese, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 2 Redshank, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Coal Tit.
Bowes Valley NR - 15 Meadow Pipit, 2 Mistle Thrush, 8+ Redwing.
Greenford Lane - 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 16 Curlew.

Monday 24th November 2008

Shibdon Pond - 4 Mute Swan, 60+ Canada Geese, 3 Shelduck, 70+ Teal, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Lapwing, 5 Snipe, 2 Redshank, 1 Great-spotted Woodpecker, 7+ Redwing, 5 Goldcrest, 10 Long-tailed Tit, 5 Bullfinch.
Lamesley Water Meadows - 1 Grey Heron, 1 Mute Swan, c120 Greylag Geese, 250+ Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 12 Mistle Thrush. Later, a male Peregrine seen.

Lamesley Water Meadows - Jack Snipe seen, together with Kingfisher 2, Green Sandpiper 1, juvenile Mute Swan 1, Common Buzzard 1, Lapwings100+, Black Headed Gulls 100+, Starlings 40+, Moorhens 15, Herring Gull 12, Curlew 2, Teal 4, Redshank 7, Jackdaws 30+ Wren 2, Greylag 100+ (flew over and left due to shotgun fire) Pied Wagtail 1,Jay 1, Blackbird 2, Mistle Thrush 1, Magpie 3, Grey Heron 1, Kestrel 1 Goldfinches 10, Woodpigeon 15.
River Tyne at Newburn - Juvenile Glaucous Gull on the river just west of the bridge
Far Pasture NR - Red Kite 7, Kestrel 1 Sparrowhawk 1, Long Tailed Tits 50+, Treecreeper 1, Mute Swan 2, Robin 1.

Derwenthaugh - 50 + Redshank 20 +Dunlin flew down river towards Dunston and a pair of little grebe on the Derwent

Clara Vale - Woodcock and singing Chiffchaff and a Willow Tit in the gardens
Sherburn Towers, Rowlands Gill - Juvenile Peregrine just before midday in a fast glide coming from Sherburn Towers Farm heading towards Gibside.

River Derwent at Derwenthaugh - 4 Goosander on the river and + 1 Green Woodpecker feeding on the waste land alongside the Derwent. 200+Lapwing ,100+ Redshank .3 Goldeneye on the Tyne

Sunday 16th November 2008

Lamesley Water Meadows - Juvenile Peregrine (this is a very large bird and may be a hybrid). Also 150 Greylag. c300 lapwing, 1 Kingfisher, c20 Mistle Thrush (churchyard yew trees), 4 Redwing, 1 Goldcrest, c10 Teal, 2 Common Buzzard (behind Ravensworth Arms towards Kibblesworth). Tufted Duck on the nearby Church pool.

Bowes Valley - 1 Common Buzzard, 1 male Kestrel, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Goldcrest, 4 Redwing, 2 Fieldfare, 1 Red Admiral butterfly
Birtley Sewage Works - 1 (female or juvenile) Peregrine chasing a pigeon [the Lamesley bird presumably], 2 Jays, 1 Kingfisher
Far Pasture NR - A late Common Darter on the wing today and and a Common Buzzard showed well until chased off by a corvid. Probably same bird seen earlier at the Nine Arches Viaduct, soaring in the bright sunshine with a Red kite and Kestrel.

River Tyne at Derwenthaugh - 1 Bar-tailed Godwit and 7 Dunlin with the Redshanks and Lapwings.

Lamesley - 9 Waxwing in the car park of the Ravenswotth Arms

Monday 10th November 2008

Blaydon - 2 Waxwing by the shopping centre early morning, followed by 28 by the nearby Shell garage at 08:39.
Derwent Walk CP - A Peregrine flew over at 14:00hrs, plus 12 Salmon and Trout in the river there.

East Bradley Fell - Woodcock circling low around gardens 3.30pm today plus a Grey Wagtail also in the garden.

Thornley Lane - A small white heron, thought possibly to be a Cattle Egret, flew low over Thornley Lane heading towards Sherburn Towers late afternoon.
River Tyne at Derwenthaugh
- 5 Goldeneye on the river.
Winlaton - 3 Red Kites soaring over houses and a Great Spotted Woodpecker is a regular visitor to one garden there.

Greenford Lane - 1 Cormorant over, c30 Greylag Geese feeding in flooded field, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Stock Dove feeding with Feral Pigeon's, 6 Skylark over, 20+ Redwing, 5+ Mistle Thrush.

Bowes Valley NR/Clarty Lane - 2 Mallard, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 3 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Kingfisher on the River Team, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great-spotted Woodpecker, 100+ Blackbird, 50+ Redwing, 10+ Fieldfare, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Jay, 5 Tree Sparrow, 15+ Siskin, 1 Crossbill over, 6+ Bullfinch, 2 Yellowhammer.

Shibdon Pond - 2 Goldeneye, the first of the autumn, on the pond.
Lamesley Water Meadows - 1 Kingfisher
East Bradley Fell - 100+ Fieldfare over north this morning in 3 scattered groups plus several hundred Redwing. Good range of regular species included Nuthatch, Kestrel, Mistle Thrush, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Lesser Redpoll and a Jay scolding a Red Fox
Thornley WC - Kingfisher feeding at the pond at 11.30 a.m, when it was chased off by a Sparrowhawk
