Grey Heron - Several feeding along the Tyne on the 1st.

Mute Swan - The pair at Watergate started to chase their offspring off the lake on 25th when another young bird was on the River Tyne at Dunston Staithes.

Canada Goose - 15 at Shibdon during the month

Grey Lag - 2 flew north over Timber beach on 1st and 3 at Watergate on 9th, moving to Lamesley Water Meadows on 10th-17th.

Pink-footed Goose - c100 flew SW over Rowlands Gill on 25th.

Shelduck - The pair moved to the river at Timber beach from Shibdon on 1st and still there on 4th. Moved back to Shibdon on 10th to 25th

Teal - Maximum counts at Shibdon were 220

Wigeon - 2 at Sled Lane Pond on 1st

Tufted Duck - 50 on River Tyne in Derwent area on 1st. 30 on Watergate but only 1 at Shibdon on 25th. 9 on Sled Lane Pond on 26th.

Common Goldeneye - Up to 30 off Timber beach during the month. 23-23 at Shibdon Pond on 24/25th. Pair at Sled Lane on 28th.

Goosander - A male noted at Sled Lane on 28th as well as the usual 1-4 birds along the Derwent.

Grey Partridge - 24 at Low Thornley Farm (an area where they have been scarce recently).

Water Rail - Noted occassionally at Far Pasture and Shibdon Pond.

Golden Plover - Up to 1000 at Timber beach during the month smaller flocks of 50-100 seen at Watergate and Birtley

Dunlin - Up to 112 at Timber beach during the month

Redshank - Up to 100 at Timber beach during the month

Common Snipe - 17 counted at Shibdon Pond.

Jack Snipe - 1 at Lamesley Water Meadows (See news & gossip).

Black-headed Gull -Several thousand in the Dunston/Shibdon area on 1st.

Mediterranean Gull - 1 at Watergate Park on 22nd

Little Owl - Singles noted at Lamesley and Clara Vale

Kingfisher- 2 noted at Far Pasture on 16th, 4 at the Curling Pond, Ryton on 13th. 1 regularly at Thornley Feeding Station Pond.

Great Spotted Woodpecker - Up to 3 on the feeders at Thornley on 25th. Drumming at Strother Hills on 27th and Ryton Willows on 30th.

Waxwing- Reported at Metrocentre on 12th(6) and 17th.

Dipper - Regular all along the Derwent Walk and on the small exit stream at Watergate Park during the month.

Blackbird - Up to 19 feeding in a garden at Ryton during the month with other thrush species.

Chiffchaff - 1 feeding on fat balls at Pet Warehouse, Blaydon on 31st.

Marsh Tit - 1 occassionally being seen at Thornley throughout the month

Willow Tit - Singles at Thornley Feeding Station on 18th.and on fat feeder along Derwent Walk by Far Pasture on 22nd.

Tree Sparrow - 7 + at Ryton on 18th

Brambling - Female being seen regularly at the feeding station at Thornley.

Siskin - 100 in Paddock Hill Wood on 7th.
